Project

Edmonton’s Food Bank Annex & Pantry

Hibco Construction has partnered with Edmonton’s Food Bank across two projects that expanded the organization’s capacity to serve the community. The first converted an existing storage facility into a functional annex, with a new front facade, a rebuilt building envelope, and a full interior renovation that added new washrooms, office space, and a ramp system for barrier-free access. It also created communal areas and classrooms for learning and accreditation programming, a repaired driveway, a new shipping and receiving area, and a garden built with in-kind donations from project partners.

Hibco later returned to renovate the Food Bank’s 13,127 sq. ft. pantry and depot facility, completed in the fall of 2023. The work began with a full interior demolition, followed by the build-out of roughly 4,000 sq. ft. of new pantry, depot, and office areas, along with new warehouse racking, a wet room for washing down pallets and containers, and a new wheelchair ramp. The phase required close coordination on a tight timeline, including new electrical service, a water service upgrade for a new sprinkler system, and new glazing sequenced alongside the landscaping and ramp installation.
